Being an Indians fan, it comes as no surprise that Victor Martinez was traded to the Boston Red Sox in a last minute sale by the Tribe and GM Mark Shapiro. The Indians have been a great farm system lately for good teams making their playoff push. Last year it was C.C. Sabathia to the Brewers and this year Cliff Lee to the Phillies. It’s always difficult to judge a trade when first made. After all, Bartolo Colon brought the Indians Lee and Grady Sizemore. However, Cleveland is a city that is not only hungry for a winner, but one that is on the floor writhing in pain with a bloated stomach from the late stages of starvation. It wants to win NOW! Of course these guys could turn out to be great ballplayers for the Indians and go on to a few All-Star games. Hell, then the Tribe will be able to turn around and TRADE them to the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, or maybe Dodgers. I’m pretty sick of this.
Thanks Victor Martinez for the memories. You’re a class act and will be missed in an Indian’s uniform.
